City of Cambridge Club Membership
To play for the City of Cambridge Water Polo team in the Hertfordshire, East Midlands, Eastern, or National League, players must be a member of the larger club which we form one part of, the City of Cambridge Swimming Club (CoCSC) and pay fees covering training time and (if appropriate) national league fees as below. All money taken in is to cover expenses incurred (e.g. pool time, league fees, referees expenses) and the committee and coaches are not paid for their time. Note it is each members' responsibility to understand the fee structure - and not be chased for the money. Please direct any questions to the treasurer (see below) or another committee member.
New Members
New Members should ask the Treasurer (see below) at training for a membership application form. When you return your form, you'll also need to pay your club membership fee which is currently £50. This covers ASA fees and insurance. This is reduced to £25 if a player is a member of another ASA registered club, and that other club is paying their ASA registration fees, and that the player signs up for dual membership with CoCSC (since the ASA fee part is reduced). If a player wishes to take advantage of the reduced annual fee, they will have to provide the a) evidence they are ASA registered. i.e. their ASA number and b) the postal address details of the membership secretary of the club that pays their ASA fees. ASA registration is mandatory for those who train with us as it covers insurance, and it is mandatory for those wishing to play for us in matches (you will not be able to
Existing Members
Each year existing members of CoCSC must update their club membership. In the New Year members will receive membership update letters which should then be signed and returned directly to the CoCSC membership secretary (as detailed in the letter).
Training Fees
In addition to the club membership fee, pool time for training is paid for by every member by EITHER a per-session fee of 5 pounds (e.g. for guests or infrequent attendees), OR a per-month standing order fee of 30 pounds for men or 15 pounds for students/juniors.
National League Fees
For those wishing to join our national league squad, there is an upfront deposit of 100 pounds per person per season - this covers our league entry fees and other costs associated with national league. For the 2009 season with 5 weekends, barring unexpected costs we hope to reimburse such that you pay 20 pounds per weekend that you play at least one match on (i.e. if you play all 5 weekends you get nothing back, if you are not selected for any weekend you get a full refund). Note that this is in addition to the training time and membership fees). Selection of the squad is at the discretion of the captain and coach - and is based on ability to contribute to our team game as demonstrated at our training sessions and matches.
Ladies
Ladies are welcome to join the club and we are trying to increase participation (including training and matches) for ladies. For beginners and intermediates, we have occasional ladies training sessions - please email the ladies captain (Naomi Mack) at ladiescaptain [at] cambridgewaterpolo.org to join the email list. These are charged at 5 pounds per sessions to cover pool costs only.
